![]() ![]() No you’re not going to rob a lumber site! What you want to do here is some research. If it’s on private property you can’t touch it.)) ((Please note the sign must be on some part of public land. So drop by with your screw gun or hammer break the sign down and you have some nice 2x4s and maybe a full sheet of ply if they didn't use the plastic sign. If they don't it becomes everyone’s game. When the election pertaining to those sign ends, the owners has 24 to 48hrs to take the signs down. Well the good news for you comes when the election ends. And advertising means giant wooded signs post along streets with some PROP or persons face on it. Again if your under age you might want to talk to you dad or older buddies to help you out on this cause this will be the number #1 way to get all your wood.Įvery town has politics and elections and with elections come advertising. So, they're getting a deal working with you on this. That’s fresh full lumber that has never been used, now you may have to wait a few months till they finish but it’s worth it! (I had a friend who did this and was able to build a whole bowl in his backyard from the wood he received) The intendent will most likely do this cause they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to dispose of the wood and any extra wood they have left over stored in sheds and have to pay rent on. Suggest that you will pick up and hall away ALL of his scrap wood from the site at no cost every weekend (or whenever he needs the wood to be disposed) and in return he will give you all the un-used lumber after their done with the build. You will try to strike a deal with him and again respectively ask him if you can do a trade. Again go to a construction site and ask for the Director of the building/ head super-intendent. Not that many people will be able to take advantage of this tip unless you have a large truck/ trailer and will need to probably be 18 or older to be taken seriously. But you taking their wood for them mean it less money for them to spend. Most places will do this cause they will need to through the old wood away and it will cost them money. ![]() ![]() If you can't pick up a lot of the wood or want to come back later the week to pick up more ask for his card and again see if it would be alright if you can come back to pick up more. 50% of the time they will say yes and give you some type of condition, like only after they leave or as long as you only take out of those piles of wood your fine. Once you get a hold of him, treat them very respectful and ask if it would be alright if you could pick up their scrap wood for them. Ask to talk to their framing super-intendent. Simply what you should do is walk to one of the workers or nearest employee on site. Now no matter what there should be some type of construction in or near your town and they tend to have the biggest use and waste of wood. This is for the skaters aspiring to build something that may have nothing where they live, no money, and then it’s for any brother that wants some free wood! haha Good information should be free right?! And these tips could save you hundreds of dollars on lumber costs. Hope this helps some of you in maybe planning on building something later on. SCREWS AND NAILS (Prices are for 5lbs boxes)Ĩft x 2 3/8 inch Aluminum 16ga Tube $12.96Ħft x 2inch x 1/8 inch thick Angle Iron $20.98 PLYWOOD (all prices are for 4'x8' sheets) In my experience the cheapest retail place to buy lumber. These are good for getting an estimate and price may vary per state/country/shop. ![]() I really hope you enjoy and maybe if we’re lucky and you all find it useful it might get sticked. This is not really about building ramps but how to get you the resources with little research to you. Like what a 2x4 is and what a coping is that’s what the ramp thread is for. Most of this thread was taken from other threads I had started concerning these topics, but on steroids. Ways to get wood for free, prices to help you plan ahead for builds, how to budget it, and make whatever scraps you have leftover can still be used in a project and not wasted. So to help perserve this info I posted well. So I posted this in a normal thread and its floated away into pages 2 through infinity. I can't wait to see the film when it's done. Since there was nothing to support it we had to build a roller coaster type support to hold it.ĭude. Damn it took to long anyways you guys know the updates will be posted on the website soon but heres some photos from the new builds. So we have had to halt construction while we figure out our next move and find a new filmer.ĥ months later!!! Were finally back building again. Some of you newbies might have seen it but if you back a few pages I've been building a mini mega ramp and it got a major delay when the goverment had us take it down off the levee it was built on and supporting it. Well I'm back with some more updates on my ramp. ![]()
